We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team
and support commercial snow removal operations in the winter and landscaping and hardscaping construction projects throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
As an Equipment Operator at Futurescape, you will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient,
and high-quality work while operating and maintaining a variety of heavy and light construction equipment.
Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to support
commercial snow removal operations and landscape construction projects. This role requires an experienced operator who demonstrates strong safety awareness, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Operation
Operate heavy and light construction equipment including but not limited to:
- Loaders
- Backhoes
- Mini-excavators
- Skid steers
- Compact equipment and attachments
- Snow removal equipment including plows and loaders
Safely perform excavation, grading, material movement, site preparation, and snow clearing
activities.
Operate equipment efficiently while minimizing damage to surrounding property and
infrastructure.
2. Landscaping & Hardscaping Operations (Spring / Summer / Fall)
- Support landscape construction and hardscape installation projects.
- Perform site preparation, excavation, grading, and material placement.
- Assist with installation of retaining walls, interlock, stone, and outdoor living features.
- Support crews with project completion while maintaining productivity and workmanship
standards.
3. Snow Removal Operations (Winter)
- Operate snow removal equipment for commercial properties.
- Complete snow clearing and site maintenance safely and efficiently during weather events.
- Maintain service quality standards and respond to changing weather conditions as required.
- Participate in on-call and extended-hour snow operations when necessary.
4. Equipment Maintenance & Safety
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
- Perform routine maintenance and report repair requirements promptly.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper care and storage.
- Follow all company policies, safe work procedures, and applicable OHSA requirements.
- Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
5. Team & Site Responsibilities
Maintain organized and professional job sites.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Support team objectives and assist in achieving project deadlines.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing project priorities and weather conditions.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
Experience operating loaders, backhoes, excavators, or similar equipment.
Experience in commercial snow removal and/or landscape construction considered an asset.
Strong understanding of safe equipment operation and job site practices.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
Ability to perform physical work and lift materials as required.
Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
DZ license considered an asset.
